liminal is a London based group of video-performance-artists, or VJs, who provide live visuals and crowd interactive art for clubs, festivals and other commuinty events. liminal use captivating video displays to dramaticaly enhance the atmosphere of live events, and use interactive visuals to help the crowd to connect with the performers and engage with the colletive.

What is a Video-Performance?

Think of a liminal video performance as a live music video, being created right then-and-there in the club. Like a DJ has a case full of discs, liminal have hard-disks bursting with video clips. And like the MC reads the crowd, spitting lyrics from a head full of verse, liminal inject the visual context with strong, symbolic motion-graphics and live cameras from the DJ booth and around the club.

Reactive Video Performances

Today's music video, is not a pre-recorded piece of footage you watch on MTV. That was so last century. Welcome to C21, where modern art has jumped out of the frame, left the gallery and hit the streets. liminal video performances use modern technology to react with the music, starting a beat-matched video-chain-reaction, directed by the VJs and lighting tehnicians.

Animated Logos

We take up to 3 of your current Logos and animate them before the event. These logos are then mixed into the video-performances throughout the night. It's a bold statement on your behalf when your punters walk into the club and see the flyer logos animated and synced to the music. Your audience will leave the event with a strong visual connection between your branding, and a great night out.

Flyer Styles

As above, we will also animate styles and information from your web-site and flyer, helping to further enhance your profile, allowing your audience to subconciously connect the dots between your online material and your live event. This includes adding your web address on screen when your logo is active.

Every time a new performer takes center stage, you have the option of introducing them visually using animated stats, much like you see on a spots competition or game-show. This looks particular good super-imposed over live shots from the DJ action cams.

Are you looking for particular types of footage for your event? You'd be surprised at some of the requests we get. The strangest reqests we've had to date are: footage of Charlie Chaplain for a Drum & Bass gig and recordings of Bee-Hives for a dub event. We use a selction of fixed and wireless cameras to bring you the action from any angle. We use many differnt types of camera to catch the action from the DJs, performers and crowd. But you can have them placed wherever you like. Be creative!

For those of you wishing to go all the way promotionally, we do offer a DVD MIX-Down service, recording the event as it happens. We also provide post-production packages which allow to add that professional polish to your production.

Clever use of audio-dynamics, video-textures, symbolic images and a colourful lighting technician can turn a regular night out, into a full-on-trip!
